Kevin Clark, who is best known for playing drummer student Freddy Jones in the iconic film School of Rock, has passed away at the age of 32.

According to reports, Clark died while out cycling in Chicago when he was hit by a car on Wednesday morning.

He was found and treated by paramedics but died in hospital at 2:04am local time.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the location where he was hit by a car is ‘notoriously dangerous’.

It is understood that the driver, a 20-year-old woman, has not been arrested.

His mother said: “He told his bandmates just yesterday: You know, this is finally the life I want to live. And we’re going to make it. You’re my musical family – my family – and we’re all going to make it.

“He loved music. He’s just a raw talent. He’s got a heart of gold,” she added.

Clark shot to fame in 2003 after starring in the 2003 hit School of Rock alongside Jack Black as the drummer of the school rock band.

It was his only acting role but he continued his musical career and had just started a new band that performed live for the first time last weekend.
