The director all but confirmed a third movie at a press conference on Friday.
Ridley Scott has said a Gladiator 3 will ‘certainly’ happen.
At a press conference on Friday, the director was asked on the status of Gladiator 3 and whether the film’s current performance might impact the project.
He responded: “Given the performance in the rest of the world we’ve seen yesterday, there’s certainly going to be a Gladiator III.”
The 87-year-old director previously told GamesRadar he had already begun writing the third installment.
“I’ve already got eight pages. I’ve got the beginning of a very good footprint,” he stated.
Just last week, Scott Mendelson from Puck reported that ‘Gladiator II’ would end up grossing less than $450M worldwide, and said he believed the film would have a very hard time breaking even.
Erik Rain from Forbes branded the film starring Paul Mescal as ‘a dreadful, pointless sequel that never should have seen the light of day’.
Yikes!
