Rapper Slowthai announces tour with tickets costing just £1

The incredible ticket price was prompted by the cost of living crisis

Rapper Slowthai has announced a tour of a number of pubs and independent music venues, tickets for which will cost just £1.

The Grammy-nominated rapper and musician, born in Northampton, is building up to the release of his third studio album, entitled Ugly.

In support of the album, Slowthai, 28, whose real name is Tyron Kaymone Frampton, will be heading out on the ‘Best Night of Your Life’ pub tour.

This will see him play six dates at pubs and independent music videos across the country, with tickets set to cost just £1.

The artist will be headlining a homecoming gig at The Black Prince, Northampton, on 3 March when Ugly is released.

The ‘Best Night of Your Life’ tour will be the first time Slowthai has performed in Northampton in five years.

The tour will get underway in Sunderland on February 23, before heading to Blackpool, Milton Keynes, London and Bath, and finishing with the homecoming gig.

Speaking about the decision to charge so little for tickets, Slowthai said that he was inspired by the cost of living crisis.

He said: “I make music for myself but I wouldn’t be where I am without my fans. It’s important to me that people can have access to me and my music.”

“I wanted to go to some new places and play this album first.”

He also joked that the ticket price has “inflated” from 99p.

The NME reports that the tour has been organised in partnership with Jägermeister, who are financially backing the shows.

“Times are tough for a lot of people and working with Jägermeister has helped me keep tickets to only a quid,” Slowthai explained.

Fans can sign up for pre-sale until February 9 by pre-ordering Ugly.

The pre-sale itself will take place on February 13, before general sale opens on Wednesday, February 15.
