
British rapper Central Cee has revealed that he's converted to Islam.
During a livestream with PlaqueBoyMax, Central Cee also revealed that he has changed his name.
Born Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, the 27-year-old shared that he has changed his first name to Akhil.
"I just changed my name init. I took my Shahada init," he said.
Shahada is the Islamic declaration of faith, and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
Worldwide, there are over two billion Muslims, making up about 25 per cent of the population.
It is reported that Central Cee has not previously stated any religious beliefs.
The rapper, who hails from Shepherd's Bush, has become one of the UK's most successful rappers in recent years.
He first rose to fame in 2020 with the release of his drill singles 'Day in the Life' and 'Loading'.
In 2023, his song 'Sprinter' hit number one on the UK singles chart.
His debut album, Can’t Rush Greatness, was released last year, and hit number one in the UK Albums Chart, and became the first UK rap album to reach the top ten in the US.
