Queen Elizabeth II had apparently planned to move Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of Frogmore Cottage and replace them with Prince Andrew, according to an author.
Royal author Robert Hardman has claimed in his new book, 'Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story', that the late monarch wanted to move the Duke of York out of Royal Lodge and into Frogmore Cottage.
This would have seen the Duke and Duchess of Sussex kicked out of the residence to be replace by Andrew.
Quoting an insider source, Hardman claimed that if Queen Elizabeth had lived "another year," Andrew would have been moved into Frogmore.
Citing the source, he wrote: "'It was her plan to move him out, to end the lease for the Sussexes at Frogmore Cottage and to move Andrew in there. It was mainly a money thing, as she could see it was becoming unsustainable.'"
The excerpts from the book were published in the Daily Mail, with Hardman claiming the Queen's staff were "more than happy" to make the move happen.
Currenlty, Andrew is still a resident at the 30-room Royal Lodge mansion, where he has had a 75-year lease since 2003.
Elsewhere in his book, Hardman claims King Charles has further cut ties with his brother by reportedly withdrawing his £1m 'living allowance.'
Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story by Robert Hardman releases on November 7.
