One of Vladimir Putin's advisers has issued a nuclear threat to destroy Britain after peace talks between Russia and Ukraine continue to falter.
The televised threat came just a matter of hours after peace talks had taken place between Putin and Trump delegates Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Despite Witkoff saying on Thursday that "a lot of progress" had been made, negotiations were faltering on one last issue.
Russia will only continue with peace talks if Ukraine agrees to surrender the Donbas region, a sizeable chunk of land in eastern Ukraine.
Witkoff told an audience at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland: "If both sides want to solve this, we're going to get it solved.
"I think we've made a lot of progress".
However, in the shadow of these faltering talks, Putin's mouthpieces have once again been taking aim at the UK on Russian television, with the latest threat coming from adviser Sergei Karaganov.
Karaganov, also known as Professor Doomsday, told viewers: “One of the targets should be, at least, Britain. And we need to be prepared, and the British need to know that we have the capability to deliver a disarming and decapitating strike.
“We can deliver it, but with a warning, of course, that if even one warhead from any of them reaches Russia. Well, from what remains, if anything remains, then the strike will be on cities and Britain will simply cease to exist.
“This is a completely normal strategy, which should be absolutely obvious and communicated to our British…enemies.”
This isn't the first warning issued by a Putin mouthpiece towards the West and specifically the United Kingdom - and it probably won't be the last.
While many of these threats remain empty in nature, it is certainly indicative of how Russian officials currently feel about their western counterparts as well as giving an insight into the state propaganda machine.
