The extra-terrestrial apparently had a message for the royal
Prince Philip was set to meet up with an alien called ‘Janus’ at a London flat.
The bizarre claim has been made in a new documentary called The King of UFOs, which is set to be released on Amazon and Tubi on September 20.
The doc recounts how the Duke of Edinburgh was passionate about aliens and space, so when an offer landed on his table of a potential encounter with an extra-terrestrial, he couldn’t say no.
According to the film’s director, Mark Christopher Lee, a meeting was arranged by the late royal’s top aide at the time, Sir Peter Horsley, who claimed he had met the entity – called Janus – a flat in Chelsea.
He told the Metro: “Horsley actually met this Janus entity in a flat in Chelsea in 1954 – he claimed that it had an ethereal otherworldly quality and it could read his mind and extract information about flying saucers.”
Prince Philip was scheduled to meet at a flat near Sloan Square Tube station on a “winter’s evening,” with Janus apparently having a “message” to give the royal.
Lee said: “Horsley wanted Phillip to meet with this Janus as Janus had a message to give him that the world needed saving as Philip was a man of great vision.
“Philip didn’t go to the meeting – and it’s most likely that Janus could have been a Russian spy – but Horsley stuck to his belief that Janus was not of this world.”
“It could have happened. It’s a very, very strange encounter,” he added.
Prince Philip’s fascination with other-worldly encounters is said to have started when a UFO allegedly landed in the Hampshire estate garden of his uncle, Lord Mountbatten in 1955.
According to royal aides, the duke subscribed to the bi-monthly journal Flying Saucer Review and owned books such as Haunted Skies: The Encyclopedia of British UFO and The Halt Perspective.
