A Premier League player has been questioned by police over allegations of rape and sex offences.

The man, understood to be in his 30s, is under investigation for the alleged rapes of two women and a sexual offence relating to a third woman.

He was first arrested back in July 2022 at an address in West London on suspicion of rape, but has been free to play for his club ever since.

The Daily Mail reports that the footballer was interviewed under caution at a police station last Thursday (November 7).

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Met officers are investigating following a number of reports of alleged sexual offences between 2021 and 2023.

“A man in his 30s was arrested in July 2022. He has since been interviewed by police on two further occasions while under caution.

“The investigation remains ongoing and detectives are continuing with in-depth and detailed enquiries. Those who have come forward to police continue to receive support from Met officers.”

Following his arrest in July 2022, the player was further arrested whilst in custody on suspicion of two incidents of rape alleged to have taken place in April and June 2021.

However, the allegations relating to June 2021 were subsequently dropped because relevant legislation had not yet come into effect.

The player was then arrested again in February 2023 on suspicion of a sexual offence alleged to have taken place in west London in February 2022.

Investigations into the other allegations are ongoing.
