‘I’ve cried consistently for the last 12 hours while carrying your unborn son’

The pregnant girlfriend of a rapper who was stabbed to death at Notting Hill Carnival said their partner felt their baby kick while they held hands during his last moments.

Takayo Nembhard, a 21-year-old rapper from Bristol, was killed in the final hours of carnival celebrations in West London on Monday night.

Nemhrard, who went by the name TKorStretch, was visiting the West London carnival with his younger sister and friends to “have a good time”, his manager Chris Patrick said, describing his death as “the worst possible ending for a talented kid”.

Police launched a murder investigation the same night.

The 21-year-old’s pregnant girlfriend, Oshian Edwards, has since shared an emotional tribute to her “sweet beautiful boy”, in which she opened up about their final moments together.

“I’m sat here with sore eyes and a heavy heart as I’ve cried consistently for the last 12 hours while carrying your unborn son,” she wrote on Instragram. “I will remind him daily about how great you were as a son ,brother ,boyfriend and friend too!

“The love I have for you will never stop and I will honour your name everyday.”

Edwards explained how she held her boyfriend’s hand as he lay “lifeless”.

“And baby T kicked me straight away and it broke me,” she added.

Edwards praised hospital staff for trying to help her boyfriend, as well as the support he received from family and friends.

“I only wish you knew how loved you really was,” she said.

“I love you whole heartedly and I’m so glad I get to share something so special with you,” she added, “and I know I’ll see you in him everyday.”
