An update has been issued on the situation

Police have issued an update after a woman was arrested this afternoon after four people were stabbed in Covent Garden in central London.

It comes as the London Ambulance Service said it responded to calls at 12:29 of a stabbing on Endell Street.

They added that four men, aged 34, 39, 42, and 52, were found with stab wounds and assessed at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police soon after confirmed that a 47-year-old woman had been arrested.

In the police update, the Camden branch of the Met said that the incident is believed to be mental health related.

It confirmed that two of the men have been discharged from hospital while the other two victims have injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, said: "Officers responded within minutes of this incident after receiving a number of reports.

"While still at an early stage of the investigation, we would like to reassure the community that we currently believe this to be an isolated, mental health related incident."

A pair of scissors were recovered at the scene, the force added.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and assault.
