Al Shorta forward Ahmed Zeero fired a subtle dig at Cristiano Ronaldo after he posted a photo of him with the 38-year-old on Instagram alongside the caption "With the second best player in history".
Zeero and his Al Shorta teammates came up against Ronaldo and Al Nassr as the Iraqi Premier League side were beaten 1-0 in the Arab Club Champions Cup.
A late penalty from Ronaldo was the difference between the two sides as they secured their place in the final, where they will take on fierce rivals Al Hilal at the King Fahd Stadium on Saturday.
After the game, Zeero was fortunate enough to get a photo alongside the forward and shortly posted the message to his Instagram, sparking a flurry of comments from people after they spotted his caption.
Last month Ronaldo claimed that the Saudi Pro League was better than the MLS and will soon become one of the top five leagues in the world.
"The Saudi league is better than the MLS," he said after a 5-0 defeat to Celta Vigo.
"I'm 100 per cent sure I won't return to any European club. They criticised me for coming to Saudi league, but what happened now? I opened the way to the Saudi league and now all the players are coming here.
"I won't return to European football, the door is completely closed."
