“It would be beneficial and sensible to give the country the day off the next day if England win.”

A petition for the UK to get a bank holiday on Monday if England win the Euro 2020 final has already gathered over 20,000 signatures.

The petition is titled “Give the UK a Bank Holiday on Monday July 12th if England win Euro 2020.”

The description reads: “England may be playing a European Championship Final at 8pm on Sunday 11th July. It would be beneficial and sensible to give the country the day off the next day if England win, in the form of an extra Bank Holiday Monday.”

The fact that the petition has already reached over 20,000 signatures means that the government has to respond to it. But if it can pass the 100,000 signature mark then the petition will be considered for debate in the Houses of Parliament.

It will absolutely reach that mark as well, because it’s going up by about

Come on Boris, do the right thing, you know it makes sense.

England reached their first major final since 1966 on Wednesday by beating Denmark 2-1 at Wembley.

The country already feels like it’s at maximum hype level but can you imagine if we go and win the damn thing? I can’t imagine that productivity levels will be through the roof on Monday.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Italy are 33 games unbeaten and have arguably been the best team at the tournament – yes, even better than England. It would be a nice problem to have wouldn’t it.

At least if we’re all working hungover on Monday, it means we’ll have had quite an amazing night before. Hopefully.
