Hackney Council have since told Metro that although they were aware of the flags, they had nothing to do with putting them up. The Evening Standard report that they were actually installed over a year ago, and Andrew Sissons, Hackney Walk development's strategy director, told the newspaper that they are due to be 'updated shortly'.
