Oscar Pistorius will be released from jail in January nearly 11 years after murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
Pistorius shot Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 2013 at their home in Pretoria, South Africa in a killing which shook the world to its core.
The former Paralympic champion was granted parole effectively from January 5 though he will be subject to conditions until his sentence is expired.
Pistorius, who is now 37, fired his gun through the bathroom door, claiming he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder.
The prosecution, however, argued that the murder was premeditated and that Pistorius shot her following an argument.
Pistorius was initially found not guilty of murder but was convicted of culpable homicide (known as manslaughter in the UK).
He was sentenced to five years in 2014 before being released, until the conviction was overturned when South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal found him guilty of murder.
Pistorius was then sentenced to six years which was increased to 13 years after the sentence was deemed "too lenient".
