Celebrities have had to evacuate and many have seen their homes destroyed as wildfires continue to spread rapidly across Los Angeles.

Some 1,900 buildings and structures have been destroyed as six blazes continue to burn in and around the city, and more than 130,000 people are under evacuation orders in the metropolitan area.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office confirmed five people had been killed by the wildfires

One of the areas worst-hit is the Pacific Palisades, where the fire has become the most destructive in the history of LA. The picturesque neighbourhood, made up of hillside streets in the Santa Monica Mountains which lead down to beaches, is popular with A-listers, with many owning properties there.

Fires in the area have been whipped into uncontrollable blazes because of wind and dry conditions, with the inferno now covering roughly 15,000 acres, the BBC reports.

Several celebs have spoken about how they’ve had to flee the area, with some revealing their homes have been destroyed.

Actor Billy Crystal said in a statement that he and his wife Janice were “heartbroken” to lose their Pacific Palisades home where they’ve lived since 1979.

The When Harry Met Sally star said in a statement: “We raised our children and grandchildren here.

“Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.

“We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”

Paris Hilton said on Instagram that she had lost her home in Malibu, writing: “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.

“This home is where we built so many precious memories… My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires.”

Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh Sperry have also reportedly lost their home in the Palisades. In a post on Instagram, Sperry shared a picture of the fires with a broken heart emoji.

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Lee Curtis shared that her “community and possibly my home is on fire” but revealed her family is safe. The Halloween star said it was a “terrifying situation”, adding that she is “grateful to the firefighters and all of the good Samaritans who are helping people get out of the way of the blaze.”

Star Wars legend Mark Hamill shared how his family were “fleeing for our lives” as they evacuated their home, whilst Schitt’s Creek actor Eugene Levy has also had to flee.

The home of actors Leighton Meester and Adam Brody has also been destroyed, the Mirror reports.

Other stars who reportedly own homes in the Pacific Palisades are Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler and Michael Keaton.

A new fire broke out on Wednesday night in the Hollywood Hills, and has spread to within one mile of the Hollywood Bowl and and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A number of film premieres have been cancelled because of the wildfires, whilst the Screen Actors Guild Awards live ceremony and the Oscar nominations event have both been postponed.
