Nigel Farage has finally broken his silence following Donald Trump’s comments labelling Volodymyr Zelensky a “dictator.”
This week, Trump accused Ukraine of ‘starting the war’ with Russia, as the US started talks with Putin to try and bring the conflict to an end.
He then said Zelensky was a “dictator,” a comment made in reference to the fact Ukraine did not hold scheduled elections last year because the country was still under martial law, which was declared following Russia’s invasion three years ago.
Trump’s comments were widely condemned across Europe, including by prime minister Keir Starmer and British politicians from across the political spectrum.
However, one party had remained conspicuously quiet on Trump’s comments – Reform UK.
Neither the party nor its five MPs had released a statement condemning Trump for his remarks.
But now, party leader Nigel Farage has broken his silence on the matter.
Speaking to GB News, he said Zelensky is “not a dictator.” However, he added that it is “only right and proper that Ukrainians have a timeline for elections.”
'Let's be clear, Zelenskyy is not a dictator.'
