New footage and audio emerges following Amazon plane crash which killed five people

The airport was effectively shut down

In the new footage, the plane is seen hitting the ground and ploughing into vehicles on a busy road.

The Boeing 767 crash trapped victims and injured five others, and later emergency crews were seen desperately trying to reach the burning plane.

Emergency crews faced chaos after Flight 7598 overshot a runway at Miami International Airport at around 2pm on Sunday.

To douse the heavy flames and smoke pouring from the wreckage, firefighters raced to get hoses close enough to the aircraft.

Meanwhile, in the newly released audio, fire crews are heard as they responded to the incident.

The plane collided with multiple vehicles

At least five people are dead after an Amazon cargo plane overshot the runway at a US airport, colliding with multiple vehicles.

The incident happened this evening (Sunday, 6 September) at Miami International Airport at around 2pm local time (7pm BST).

The aircraft in question is a Boeing 767-300 cargo plane operating for Amazon's Prime Air.

It departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico and had Miami as its destination.

Images circulating online show the aircraft beyond a road and tilted downwards.

It has now been confirmed by the Miami mayor that at least five people have died in the incident.

Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said in a news conference: "We can confirm that we have at least five deceased individuals.

"Multiple individuals were transported to local hospitals with unknown injuries."

The incident caused the FAA to temporarily implement a ground stop, effectively shutting down the airport.

Operations have recommened however, as per Flightradar24, who confirmed one of the runways was back open.

The airport said in a statement: "At approximately 2 p.m. today, Prime Air flight 7598 overran Miami International Airport’s diagonal runway and is disabled at the northwest end of the airport."
