Naomi Campbell 'very upset' after being 'racially profiled' at airport

‘The whole incident had quite a horrid effect on her’

Naomi Campbell has been left shaken and “very upset” after believing she was racially profiled by Airport staff in Bulgaria.

The supermodel and mother of one were travelling to the Bulgarian capital of Sofia last month when staff in the arrivals terminal behaviour poorly, reports the Mail Online.

The incident, which happened on May 19, saw staff ask to search Campbell’s belongings and also tell her that her bag was too heavy and had not been stowed.

“Naomi was very upset. The whole incident had quite a horrid effect on her. She was on her way out for an exciting shoot and was looking forward to it but this put a bit of a dampener on her time in Sofia,” a friend of Campbell’s told the news outlet.

She was able to complete the job.

Campbell’s close friend Edward Enninful, who happens to be the editor of Vogue UK, was racially profiled in 2020 when he tried to enter his offices. Enninful was told to use the loading bay by a third-party contractor, and higher-ups immediately dismissed the guard.

Taking to Instagram, the 50-year-old fashion visionary said: “Condé Nast moved quickly to dismiss the security guard, but it just goes to show that sometimes it doesn’t matter what you’ve achieved in the course of your life: the first thing that some people will judge you on is the colour of your skin.”
