A number of schools in the UK have received bomb threats.
The threats were sent to at least two school in an email which claimed pipe bombs had been left at the schools, reports the Belfast Telegraph.
The sender also threatened to come to the schools with guns and knives.
Both schools are situated in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, with the sender saying: "Antrim will remember this day."
Posting on social media, a spokesperson for St Benedict’s College in Randalstown said “the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority”.
They said the matter was "not being treated as a serious threat", but added: "However, it is being addressed at a senior level, and we will continue to follow all guidance provided.
"As a precaution, school doors will remain locked throughout the day as normal.
"Pupils will remain indoors until we receive further guidance from the PSNI. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remains our highest priority.
"We will keep parents informed and will notify you immediately should the situation change."
North Antrim MP Jim Allister said: “I am deeply concerned by reports of sinister emails threatening knife and bomb attacks on schools in Co Antrim area.
“Any threat directed at children, parents, teachers or school staff is utterly reprehensible. I welcome the swift response from the PSNI in investigating these threats and carrying out reassurance patrols. Those responsible for this malicious hoax, if that is indeed what it proves to be, must be identified and dealt with robustly.”
Sinn Féin MLA for South Antrim Declan Kearney said: “These emails have caused extreme and understandable anxiety among parents, schools, and business owners across Antrim.
“These threats are reprehensible and those responsible must be held to account.
“I welcome that the police are in investigating the contents of this malicious email and are working with those affected and have increased reassurance patrols in the areas affected.
“I would urge anyone to report anything suspicious to the police.”
