Muhammad Ali's son has reportedly been detained under the travel ban into the United States.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order last month, temporarily blocking immigrants from seven Muslim majority countries from entering the US. The 90-day travel ban applies to Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq. However, according to Chris Mancini, an American lawyer, Philadelphia-born Muhammad Ali Jr was detained by immigration staff at an airport in Florida. According to Mancini, who was speaking to the Courier-Journal newspaper in Louisville, Ali was detained for almost two hours and was reportedly asked by staff:

"Where did you get your name from? Are you Muslim?"

The incident is said to have occurred at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on February 7. Ali, who holds a US passport, arrived at the airport from Jamaica with his mother Khalilah Camacho-Ali, the second-wife of his father who passed away last year. US Customs and Border Protection said it: "cannot discuss individual travellers; however, all international travellers arriving in the US are subject to CBP inspection".
