The Met Office has highlighted multiple parts of the UK likely to see snow on Friday, January 30.

Several areas of low pressure are expected to track eastward across the Atlantic this week.

These systems may slow as they encounter a high-pressure block over eastern Europe, which could bring additional rain in the southwest and hill snow in parts of northeast Scotland.

Snow is expected in elevated regions and northern parts of the country, particularly in Scotland and northern England.

Areas at risk include:

In northern England, counties at risk include Northumberland, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

In Scotland, areas at risk include Sutherland, Ross & Cromarty, Invernessshire, Nairnshire, Banffshire, Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, Argyll, Clackmannanshire, Kinrosshire, Midlothian, Selkirkshire, Lanarkshire, Peeblesshire, Roxburghshire and Dumfriesshire.

Wales counties at risk include Isle of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, Ceredigion and Powys.

The Met Office said: "Friday will bring further rain and blustery showers to the west and southwest, with colder conditions further north and slightly milder air in the south. Brighter spells are expected between showers, while Scotland may see additional hill snow."

Exacta Weather's James Madden added: "Snow is likely to continue across higher ground to the east of Scotland, with brief wintry weather or snow streamers possible in parts of the northeast and eastern England on Thursday. From early Friday, conditions will mix with cold air, bringing further wintry weather and snow across northern areas, and potentially as far south as central England, though more transient further south."
