Mayweather actually ‘knocked out’ Logan Paul but ‘held him up’ during fight

Charlie Herbert

Honestly, why is anyone surprised that the fight was a farce?

Some fights are timeless epics that go down in the annals of time. The ‘Rumble in the Jungle’. The ‘Thrilla in Manilla’.

Do not add the ‘Monstrosity in Miami’ to that list.

It was a surreal, baffling, hilariously bad fight between a YouTuber and a 44-year-old man, who just happens to be one of the greatest boxers of all time. And realistically, if Mayweather had wanted to, he could have ended the fight after 30 seconds. But that wouldn’t have been very exhibition-y would it?

The integrity of this so-called fight is best summed up by this footage that is doing the rounds on Twitter, which appears to show Mayweather catching Logan with a pretty solid punch, only to then hold up the YouTuber so that he can keep going and continue to provide the top-notch boxing entertainment that he was.

The two men managed to stumble through eight rounds – with Paul obviously struggling much more than the undefeated ex-pro. Even Mayweather seemingly realised that he had a duty to at least make the fight last longer than five minutes for the fans that had (somehow) decided to pay $50 for the fight on pay-per-view.

If this fight does go down in the history books it will be for all the wrong reasons. Mayweather vs McGregor was one thing. Logan Paul vs KSI was a bit of fun. This pathetic excuse for a boxing match was on a whole different level. We’re truly through the looking glass now.
