Manchester City have paid tribute to a supporter who died following a medical emergency at the Manchester Derby yesterday.

The Premier League champions were beaten 2-1 at home at the Etihad after the Red Devils mounted a late comeback as Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo both found the net in the final few minutes.

However, the match was overshadowed by the tragic death of a supporter.

The fan in question died after a ‘medical emergency’, with City confirming the tragic news in a statement on social media.

They said: “Manchester City are aware of the tragic news that one of our supporters passed away following a medical incident at yesterday’s match.

“The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

Fellow supporters took to social media to share their condolences.

One fan wrote: “I’m so sorry to hear about this. My thoughts with the family and the entire club. May the soul of the departed rest in peace.”

While a second said: “Man we lost big time. This is the saddest part. RIP to the lost soul.”

Premier League rivals Luton Town also shared their condolences, saying: “We send our condolences to their family, friends and all at Manchester City at this time.”

United fans also ave their respects with one fan account saying: “Our prayers and condolences with their family!”

City took the lead against United in the 36th minute, with Josko Gvardiol opening the scoring with an impressive header.

United equalised towards the end of the 90 minutes, however, with Fernandes converting a penalty.

Amad then struck in the 90th minute to give Ruben Amorim’s side all three points, having lobbed the ball over Ederson before expertly finishing.

Pep Guardiola’s side are currently on a run of just one win from their last 11 matches across all competitions.

They face Aston Villa on Sunday.
