A suspected bomb was found outside the Queen's Edinburgh home
A bomb disposal team was called to the Queen's official Scottish residence at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh late on Tuesday evening.
After a report that a "suspicious item" had been spotted on the grounds of the Palace, the bomb squad was sent to the estate around 8:50pm.
They were able to "make the item safe" and reassured that "there was no threat to the public and enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances."
Once procedures have been carried out by the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team, the situation was able to be diffused. Authorities later went on to make an arrest in connection with the incident.
The suspect is believed to be a 39-year-old man, though it has not yet been confirmed as the culprit. No other details regarding his identity have been released at present, but further updates are to follow.
