An update has been issued on the condition of Ian Huntley after being attacked in prison.
It was reported yesterday that child killer, Ian Huntley, was fighting for his life after being attacked in prison.
Huntley, who is now 52, is serving life in prison for the murder of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, at his home in Soham.
The Daily Mail report that Huntley was airlifted to hospital after being targeted in the attack on his prison wing.
Huntley was found in a pool of blood after the incident at HMP Frankland, Durham.
The incident happened at 9am yesterday morning.
The Sun reported that the killer is in a 'touch and go' condition.
Now, the police have issued an update on Huntley's condition, revealing that he remains in a serious condition.
A Durham Constabulary spokesperson said: "There has been no change in the 52-year-old man's condition overnight - he remains in hospital in a serious condition."
Police earlier said that a man in his mid-40s was being investigated over the incident.
"He has not been arrested at this stage but remains in detention within the prison," a spokesperson added.
Huntley's victims were two best friends who had gone out to buy sweets when he lured them into his cottage.
Their disappearance sparked shockwaves across the nation.
