The high street has taken another hit as a major retailer is set to appoint administrators.
GAME, which specializes in video games, consoles, accessories and gaming merchandise, is set to appoint administrators, Express reported on Friday.
The company had filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators last week.
This triggered a 10-day period during which creditors are temporarily prevented from taking enforcement action while options are considered.
According to Express, April of this year is when the company’s final three standalone stores are expected to close.
GAME previously entered administration in 2012 before being rescued several years later, allowing trading to continue under new ownership at the time.
However, the retailer will continue operating through concession outlets inside other Frasers Group businesses.
It was earlier reported that the majority of GAME's staff at its head office were laid off in August 2024.
