Major airline bans use of power banks onboard flights

You can no longer use them onboard

You cannot use power banks while on Lufthansa flights, as it’s the latest airline to introduce strict new rules.

Lufthansa was named Europe’s Leading Airline by the World Travel Awards last year, and from January 15 of this year, you cannot use power banks on board as a passenger.

You can take power banks but you cannot use them onboard.

They also won’t be allowed to be charged using the inflight ports, so you have to make sure to do it before your trip.

The 70-year-old airline hasn’t banned them from being taken into the cabin, but they must remain in sight either under the seat or in the personal bag.

And it’s not only Lufthansa, as Swiss International Airlines will also be affected by the power bank ban.

This decision to ban them comes following a fire caused by a power bank in January of last year, which destroyed an Air Busan plane in South Korea.

Luckily no passengers were killed, but the airline became the first in the world to ban them entirely onboard.

Since then, other airlines have introduced similar rules than ban the use of them in the cabin, although most still allow them to be brought in in hand luggage.

Other major airlines with the new rules include Emirates. They banned power banks back in October of last year, saying at the time that “using any kind of power bank is prohibited onboard Emirates’ flights.

While in March of last year, they were also banned by Singapore Airlines.

Any similar rules are yet to be introduced by UK airlines such as British Airways and Ryanair.
