Stick and stones and all that

American rapper Machine Gun Kelly became target practice during a recent performance at a festival in California, finding himself pelted with bottles and branches before being booed off the stage.

In a video taken at the Aftershock Festival over the weekend, the rapper can be seen performing on a makeshift stage. The 31-year-old was not entirely met with an appreciative crowd though, having bottles and tree branches launched at him from the audience.

But the rapper, real name Colson Baker, knew what he was in for.

Addressing festival goers before the performance, he said: “How the f**k you feelin’ Aftershock? Mixed opinions. I love you so much. This morning I was like, ‘Do we get on the plane and go to this?”

As he dodged incoming projectiles, he shared why he was still performing despite knowing that the audience would not be the most positive crowd to face.

“I was sitting there thinking about the last festival we did where this 10-year-old got her poster ripped up just for liking me. I’m doing this show for her and everyone who came to see us.”

The rapper, who is currently dating actor and model Megan Fox, is no stranger to scandal. Most recently, he smacked a fan while at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky.

The altercation reportedly began because he was bad-mouthing Slipknot. A fan rushed the stage and shoved the rapper as the crowd booed – and all on the same day that his album hit number one.

The self-proclaimed ‘Blonde Don’ is no stranger to fist fights, having fought with UFC fighter Conor McGregor at the VMAs in September.

Though numerous outlets reported that the altercation occurred when MGK refused to give the fighter a picture, McGregor’s people released a statement the following day.

“Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident. He does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor’s fight this past July.”
