Audience left outraged as TV host says England star Beth Mead looks 'knackered'
Ranvir Singh said it was a 'slip of the tongue'
Lorraine presenter Ranvir Singh has apologised for saying that England women's forward Beth Mead "looked knackered" during an interview.
Mead appeared on the programme on Tuesday morning to discuss the Lionesses' historic Euro 2022 victory. Singh, who stepped in for usual host Lorraine Kelly, started off the interview by saying: "How are you? I mean you look a bit knackered to be fair..."
The forward, who was England's top scorer at the tournament with six goals, was shocked by the comment and replied: "Oh thank you!" To which Ranvir added: "Your whole body has just like gone!"

Singh was branded as "patronising" and "rude" by viewers but the presenter apologised live on air on Wednesday morning, saying it was a "slip of the tongue."
"We had Beth Mead on the show yesterday, who by the way, looked fantastic, felt knackered just to clear that up. It was a slip of the tongue on my part, I apologise."
The incident followed after Richard Madeley was criticised for his sexist remarks towards England's winning goalscorer, Chloe Kelly, on the same day.
Kelly was nicknamed "Coco" by Madeley because 'that's what he calls his daughter' during an interview alongside Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain.

Twitter users were left shocked by the comment. One person wrote: "Richard Madeley you don't interview someone then end with calling them your daughters nickname..show Chloe kelly some respect, she's more than earned it."
Another tweeted: "Richard Madeley is such a weird f*****g person, calling Chloe Kelly' Coco' on national TV with the reasoning of 'that's what I call my daughter.
"So f*****g what? Chloe Kelly isn't your daughter. Delusional, almost like he's trying to be apart of her moment. F*****g creepy."
