Lilt to be scrapped after 50 years on shop shelves

Lilt is being scrapped after almost half a century on British supermarket shelves, it has been announced. Coca-Cola, which owns the Lilt brand, confirmed that the iconic tropical beverage will be relaunched under as a Fanta drink. New Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit 330ml cans, 500ml bottles and two-litre bottles featuring will roll into retailers tomorrow (14 February), according to The Grocer. It promises to bring the 'same totally tropical taste' that fans of Lilt already know and love, but quite frankly, it's unlikely to hit quite the same if it's not in famous silvery-blue can. But Coca-Cola have assured customers that the new Fanta branding will still have a "graphic nod to the totally tropical taste' of Lilt." A zero-sugar version of the drink will also be launched as part of the rollout. It’s just got itself a new name.” Lilt made its UK debut in 1975 with the tagline: ‘The Totally Tropical Taste’.
