‘I look forward to working with you in the years ahead.’

Prime minister Keir Starmer has tweeted his congratulations to Donald Trump on his ‘historic election victory‘.

Starmer is the latest among many world leaders to express their congratulations to the expected-President Elect Donald Trump.

The election has yet to be formally called, but it is widely accepted and expected that Trump has all the votes he needs to reach the required 270 Electoral College votes to reach the White House.

Trump said at his rally earlier tonight (US time): “This is a magnificent victory for the American people, that will allow us to make America great again.”

Trump vowed to fix border issues and said that he survived his assassination attempt earlier this year ‘for a reason’.

Keir Starmer said in his post to X:

“I look forward to working with you in the years ahead. As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.

“From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.”

Political leaders across the country have begun congratulating Trump in tweets, including Israeli leader Benjamin Netenyahu and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris has confirmed she won’t be speaking tonight as her supporters have been sent home from her rally.
