The glamour model admitted she was on drugs when she crashed near her home

Katie Price has avoided a jail sentence over a drink-driving crash near her home in Sussex in October.

The former glamour model appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday where she was sentenced to 16-weeks in prison, suspended for a year.

The 43-year-old, who had earlier admitted drink-driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance, was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.

Following the crash on the B2135 near Partridge Green, Price told police:  “I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all.”

At an earlier hearing, Price’s sentence was adjourned on the condition that she have treatment at the Priory Centre, not commit any further offences, and be banned from driving in the interim.

Officers responded to the crash at 6.20am, and Price was arrested and taken to hospital.

A drugs wipe later gave a positive reading for cocaine and a roadside breath test revealed Price was over the drink driving limit.

An image shared by police from the scene showed a car flipped on its side.

After the crash, Price’s family expressed concern for her wellbeing, writing on her Instagram account: “As a family we have for some time been concerned about Kate’s wellbeing and overall mental health.

“Today our worst fears nearly came true. As a family we have been and will continue to help Kate get the help she needs. “We hope that she will realise that she cannot battle her issues alone.”

Last month Price and her partner, Carl Woods, got married in Las Vegas.
