Klopp clashed with the reporter after Liverpool’s 2-0 win

Jurgen Klopp has come under fire after he labelled an Amazon Prime reporter “ignorant” for a tongue-in-cheek comment following Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Sheffield United.

Liverpool were relatively comfortable throughout and scored a goal in either half.

Virgil van Dijk volleyed home from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai wrapped up the three points to deny Chris Wilder the chance of a fairytale three points.

The Reds now turn their attention to their early kick off against Crystal Palace on Saturday – their fifth 12:30pm kick off of the season less than 72 hours after their win in Yorkshire.

Klopp has regularly voiced his concerns about the congested fixture schedule in English football and didn’t take too well to a joke made by Amazon Prime Video reporter Marcus Buckland.

Buckland joked that the game was being played in Klopp’s “favourite kick-off time”, leading to the German interrupting and saying: “That’s really brave to make a joke about that.

“We go home, I don’t know exactly what time we will get home, we will arrive, maybe 1am-2am tonight and then play again. We have two sessions.

“It is fine to recover and then we go again. Crystal Palace play tonight as well so it is really fine.

“I realise you don’t understand it as well and you work in football so why should I explain it again. If you make a joke out of that you are ignorant.”

Buckland then assured Klopp that he wasn’t trying to be disrespectful but the Reds boss wasn’t having any of it, replying: “You were already.”
