Johnny Depp wears Hillsborough badge

The actor has been in the UK since the conclusion of his defamation trial win against Amber Heard

Johnny Depp has been pictured wearing a badge commemorating the victims of the Hillsborough disaster on a recent visit to an animal rescue centre.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has been enjoying himself in the UK in recent weeks, performing at gigs across the country with Jeff Beck, booking out the entirety of one of the country’s biggest Indian restaurants, and enjoying a drink at a Newcastle pub.

Last week the actor visited Folly Wildlife Rescue in Kent with Jeff Beck and his wife Sandra.

Whilst there, he was given the privilege of being able to hold one of the centre’s orphaned badgers, Freddie.

On Friday, he shared another picture of his encounter with the badger on his Instagram stories.

On his jacket in the picture there is a Hillsborough memorial badge featuring a blue football shirt with the number 9 on it and a red shirt with the number 6 emblazoned on the back.

The badge represents the victims of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

The number of victims was recently updated to 97 after the death of Andrew Devine in July last year.

Devine suffered life-changing injuries as a result of the disaster, and a coroner ruled that he was unlawfully killed and that he is therefore the 97th victim of the disaster.

From the 2022/23 season, Liverpool’s kit will change to have the number 97 on the back of the collar instead of 96.
