Heartbreaking news

Former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo has tragically died at the age of just 35.

The Australian actor and singer died “surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family”.

A statement on Ruffo’s Instagram confirmed his death, reading: “It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny.

“He was a very talented, charming, and sometimes cheeky boy.

“Johnny was very determined and had a strong will. He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could.

“Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give. We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives. Rest easy.”

Ruffo, who was best known for his role as Chris Harrington on the Australian soap, was diagnosed with brain cancer back in 2017 and was starting an “aggressive treatment”.

Ruffo was said to be an inspiration to many as he openly documented his fight with brain cancer all the way up until his untimely death.

Among those mourning his death is Spice Girls singer Mel B who commented on Instagram: “My heart just broke. Sending my sincere condolences.”

Comedian Dave Hughes wrote: “A star has moved to the next world. Go well Johnny.”

Australian Idol host Ricki-Lee Coulter posted three broken heart emojis and Neighbours actress, Bonnie Anderson, wrote: “What a man! You always knew how to light up a room Johnny.

“Sending ever hit of love to all your loved ones! Absolutely heartbreaking.”

He was just 35.
