If you’re flying with Ryanair, you better check these flights.

Earlier this afternoon, Michael O’Leary stated that the current cancellations of Ryanair flights across Europe was ‘a mess of our own making’ as thousands of people have seen their travel plans thrown into chaos.

The airline could also be facing up to 20m euros (£18m) in compensation claims after cancelling thousands of flights due to a shortage of pilots.

Over the weekend, Ryanair announced that they would be cancelling between 40 and 50 flights every day for the next six weeks.

The reason given for these cancellations was so that their work calendar could successfully switch from April-March to January-December, as well as a backlog of crew leave which must be handed out before the end of the year.

Norwegian Air have provided another reason for these cancellations.  As reported by The Guardian. Norwegian Air have stated that : “We can confirm that 140 pilots have joined Norwegian from Ryanair this year. Pilot recruitment is also under way for more pilots for our new Dublin base opening later this year.”

The Belfast Telegraph are also reporting that Ryanair have begun offered a “signing-on” bonus of €10,000 (£8,800) in a bid to get experienced pilots to join Ryanair as it struggles to fill jobs.

At present, Ryanair have posted every single flight that has been cancelled and here they are on a day-to-day basis.

Note: The airline are expected to add even more flights to this list. If you’re flying with Ryanair, you can check the status of your flight here.
