‘Everyone who crosses the Ukrainian border with the intent to invade will be killed’

A former Miss Grand Ukraine has swapped her pageant makeup for warpaint as she joins the fight against Russia alongside the Ukrainian people.

Anastasia Lenna, who competed as Ukraine’s representative in 2015’s Miss Grand International beauty contest, has joined the fight against Russia, who invaded Ukraine on Thursday. Lenna has kept followers up to date through Instagram, where she boasts 120k followers.

“Everyone who crosses the Ukrainian border with the intent to invade will be killed!” she wrote in one post alongside an image of soldiers blocking a road.

In another post, she wrote: “[Ukraine’s] army is fighting in such a way that NATO should apply for entry into Ukraine.” Alongside one image, pageant body Miss Supranational wrote: “We #standwithukraine.”

Lenna also branded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as a “true and strong leader”, which seems accurate given his continued fight on the streets with the rest of his people.

Lenna, who studied marketing and management at Slavistik University in Kyiv, has continued to share resources, links, and donation pages through her Instagram page.

This comes as Vladimir Putin has reportedly ordered the military command to put nuclear deterrence forces on high alert in response to “aggressive statements” from Nato countries.

On Sunday, news agency Reuters said the Russian president had made the order as tensions grow with the west over his invasion of Ukraine.
