Man hit with fine for having a cup of tea with his friend

Unless you've spent the last week or so living under a rock, you're probably more than well aware that England is now in the grips of Lockdown 2.0. Although there's been understandable confusion surrounding some of the many, many rules as to what people can and can't do as the country tries to limit the spread of coronavirus, most should now have a fair idea that nipping round your mate's for a brew is not permitted. Sadly, that wasn't enough to deter one man from doing exactly that on Friday. Police in Wigan Borough confirmed that officers in the Golborne and Lowton neighbourhood had issued a fine to a man for breaking lockdown restrictions to have a cup of tea with a friend. Apart from support bubble exemptions and child care support, visiting another person's address is currently not permitted - no matter how much you crave a cup of tea.
