The family tree reportedly caught fire on Christmas morning

A father, his two sons and their dogs died after a house fire in Pennsylvania, USA on Christmas morning.

Eric King, 40, his sons Liam, 11, and Patrick, 8, and their dogs all died in the fire, according to ABC 6.

The fire reportedly began at around 1.30am on Saturday morning. Firefighters tried to enter the home to rescue the family, but were unsuccessful. The fire took an hour for firefighters to control.

“Three family members are deceased as a result of the fire,” Quakertown Police Chief Scott McElree said. “We are looking at the Christmas tree that may have ignited as a result of Christmas lights on that Christmas tree.”

Mother Kristin and eldest son Brady escaped the home before the fire destroyed it, after which they were taken to hospital.

A GoFundMe account for the family has raised more than $600,000 at the time of writing.

The fire did spread to the home next door, but the neighbours were all able to escape unharmed.
