Everyone is saying the same thing about Meghan Markle’s return to Instagram

JOE

She has posted on Instagram for the first time in years

Meghan Markle has made her return to Instagram six years after she deactivated all of her social media accounts when she got engaged to her now-husband, Prince Harry.

This time, the Duchess of Sussex’s online presence is an account by the name of American Riviera Orchard (@americanrivieraorchard), complete with a blue verification tick.

At the time of this article, the page had a growing following of 359,000 users.

The account features a logo, a link to a website where fans can enter their email address to join a waitlist, and a bio that reads:

by Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

Established 2024.

The account has published one story, a short video story to the music of Nancy Wilson’s I Wish You Love showing Meghan baking, arranging flowers, and a woman in a gown.

Nine grid posts without comment sections have also been uploaded that make up the brand’s logo from the main page.

What is American Riviera Orchard?

According to documents seen by Sky Newsthe brand appears to be a luxury lifestyle brand.

These documents were filed last month with the US Patent and Trademark Office seeking to register the brand’s name and trademark protection for goods such as textiles, cutlery, jellies, jams, marmalades, and assorted food spreads.

They also specified that American Riviera Orchard may also feature ‘cookbooks, retail space, coffee services in the nature of tableware, tea services in the nature of tableware, serving-ware for serving food and drinks, decanters’.

The application was filed under a company called Mama Knows Best, which was registered in January.

However, following the brand’s Instagram launch, everyone is already saying the same thing about its name.

The name American Riviera Orchard appears to come from the location of Meghan and Harry’s home in Montecito, California, which is known as the American Riviera.

However, not everyone on social media appears to understand this, with many taking to X to slam the ‘word salad’ of a name.

One person wrote: “I don’t understand the name American Riviera Orchard?”

A second put: “She called it American Riviera Orchard? What on earth does that mean? Is she selling apples now?”

“Wishing Meghan all the luck but American Riviera Orchard sounds like a dog’s name at Crufts,” a third put.
