Every UK adult could receive both Covid jabs by August, says vaccine taskforce boss

“We’re probably talking August time or September time all done, maybe sooner if we need to.”

Every adult in the country could receive two doses of Covid vaccination by the end of summer, the head of the UK’s vaccine taskforce has said.

Clive Dix told Sky News that every adult could have their second does by August or September “or maybe sooner if we need to”.

Dix runs the body that decides which vaccines the UK government should buy, and gave assurances that vaccines would arrive at the rate promised by the government.

“We are confident within the vaccine taskforce now that the supply we’re going to get will take to us to a position where we can vaccinate as many people as the UK wants to vaccinate,” said Dix.

When asked for a timeframe for when every adult would have had their second jab, Dix replied “We’re probably talking August time or September time all done, maybe sooner if we need to.”

More than 15 million people in the UK have already had their first dose of a Coovid vaccination, and over half a million have received a second jab.
