It’s almost like they’re trying to rub it in.
Less than three months after Britain narrowly opted to (Br)exit the European Union, it has been announced that all member states will enjoy free Wi-Fi, abolished data roaming fees and 5G internet connectivity.
Meanwhile Theresa May continues to assure us that “Brexit means Brexit”, despite the fact we seem no closer to actually triggering the much-discussed Article 50 and getting the hell out of there.
Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, used his annual State of the Union address in Strasbourg to announce that ‘every European village and every city’ would receive the perks by 2020 – by which time you’d imagine that Britain will have officially left.
As Engadget report, you wouldn’t just receive unlimited coverage, but rural areas that typically get crappy Wi-Fi speeds and local companies that can’t always afford to offer their connection for free would benefit hugely from the boost.
And ultra-fast 5G internet all across the continent without paying a penny?
