Sir Elton John has said he has 'lost his sight', and is unable to watch a new musical which he helped create.
The music legend was speaking at the gala performance of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical, which Sir Elton has written the lyrics for.
He said: "As some you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight.
"I haven't been able to see the performance but I have enjoyed listening to it."
The 77-year-old went on to thank his husband David Furnish, saying he's "been my rock because I haven't been able to come to many of the previews..."
He finished by saying: "It's hard for me to see it but I love to hear it and it sounded good tonight OK. Thank you for coming."
John has been struggling with his sight since he caught an infection in his right eye in July, which he has previously said he developed in the south of France.
He told ABC News' Good Morning America in November: "I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July because I had an infection in the south of France. It's been four months now since I haven't been able to see, and my left eye is not the greatest."
The gala performance of The Devil Wears Prada musical was also a charity event to raise money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Other famous faces in attendance included Anna Wintour, Lily Collins, Michelle Visage and Donatella Versace.
Speaking to the BBC, Wintour said she was looking forward to supporting Sir Elton and labelled the musical "entertaining."
Many have theorised that the character of Priestly in the film The Devil Wears Prada is based on Wintour, who is the editor-in-chief at Vogue.
