Elon Musk sleeps with two guns on his bedside table

A timely post given Musk has been firing so many people

Elon Musk sleeps with two guns on his bedside table.

The billionaire posted a picture on Sunday, around 2am, of what he likes to have at hand during the night in what is a rather timely post given the amount of people he’s been firing lately.

The tweet showed two guns and a collection of four empty Diet Coke cans.

The weapons appeared to be a revolver that looked like a film prop, and another that appeared to be a 19th century pistol, in a display case that includes the painting Washington Crossing the Delaware.

In a later, the new owner of Twitter apologised for the lack of coasters for his caffeine-free beverage of choice, for which he said there was “no excuse”.

The post prompted some fun replies.

Some commenters questioned what the gold item on the left was, before the mystery appeared to be solved, well, maybe.

Elon Musk appears to be staying in San Francisco as he attempts to transform his new company into what he has called “Twitter 2.0”.

He has urged the staff that remain at the company to work “long hours at high intensity”, or leave, and he has often posted from inside the Twitter office at late hours.

On Friday, Musk made headlines for suggesting that if Twitter is kicked out of the App store, he will just create his own smartphone.

Since becoming the ‘Chief Twit’ at the end of October, Musk has axed a string of top execs, dissolved the board, fired over half its workforce, sparked a wave of resignations and made a host of changes to data privacy and content moderation.

Before he offered to buy Twitter for $44 billion, Musk criticised the platform for undermining democracy by failing to uphold “free speech principles” and not long before called himself a “free speech absolutist.”

Since taking over he had quickly moved to reinstate a number of users banned for such content, like former president Donald Trump. Kanye West has also returned to the platform.

Musk has announced plans for $8 a month fee for blue tick verification, and will usher in gold and grey ticks as well. He is also reportedly going to try and make money for Twitter off  adult content, similar to OnlyFans.
