Elon Musk says Joe Biden won 2020 election because everyone wanted less drama

A year and a half after Joe Biden’s victory, Elon Musk has decided to offer his political analysis on the 2020 US presidential election

Elon Musk has said he believes Joe Biden only won the 2020 US presidential election because the public “just wanted less drama.”

In a tweet, Musk wrote: “Biden’s mistake is that he thinks he was elected to transform the country, but actually everyone just wanted less drama.”

Democrat Biden won the presidency in November 2020, ousting Donald Trump from the White House after a single term.

The billionaire did not clarify exactly what he meant by “drama”, but it’s fair to say that, whilst it was certainly many things, Trump’s presidency was not boring.

Earlier this week, the Tesla chief executive said that he plans on welcoming Donald Trump back to Twitter once his takeover of the social media platform goes through, and branded the decision to remove him from the site as “foolish.”

In a separate tweet on Thursday, he wrote: “Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored to Twitter.”

But Trump may have to wait a little longer for this to happen, with Musk announcing on Friday that his takeover was “temporarily on hold” as he tries to establish exactly how many of Twitter’s users are “spam/fake accounts.”

In a filing earlier this month, Twitter had said it estimated false or spam accounts made up fewer than 5 percent of its daily active accounts during the first quarter of the year, Reuters reports.

Musk is now keen to examine that figure for himself, hence the apparent pause on his takeover.
