Trump was chosen over the Princess of Wales, Elon Musk, and election rival, Kamal Harris, all of which were also on the shortlist.
The 78-year-old, who has survived two assassination attempts in recent months, will celebrate the title by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange later today.
He was also named Time’s Person Of The Year in 2016 when he first won the race to the White House.
Upon announcing their shortlist, Time called his second election win ‘history-making in multiple ways’.
The magazine touched on how Trump will be the ‘oldest president in US history’, entering office for the second time at the age of 78 years and seven months.
When beginning his term in 2021, President Joe Biden began was 78 years and two months old.
Additionally, the publication stated how Trump will also be the ‘first convicted felon to be elected president’, referring to his conviction for falsifying business records to commit election fraud.
Last year, pop superstar Taylor Swift took the renowned title, branded as a ‘light’, Time stated that ‘no one else on the planet today can move so many people’ as well as the 34-year-old singer can.
