Donald Trump attempts to have a pop at Mayor of London Sadiq Khan… again

Dude, stop. This is embarrassing

Rich Cooper

Another day, another sensational piece of diplomacy executed from Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

Everyone’s favourite presidential windsock full of farts has lashed out at Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on Twitter for a second time.

Following the attack in London on Saturday, Trump tweeted a message of support, saying: “Whatever the United States can do to help out in London and the U.K., we will be there.”

Shortly thereafter, Trump tweeted again, saying, “At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is “no reason to be alarmed!'”, a deliberate misrepresentation of a speech Khan made, telling Londoners not to be alarmed by the sight of armed police on the streets.

The tweet was widely condemned, with Khan himself refusing to comment. A spokesperson said: “He has more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump’s ill-informed tweet”.

Here is the proper context for what Sadiq Khan said:

Trump clearly wasn’t too happy with the way this went down, as he has attempted another smear on Khan, calling his statement a “pathetic excuse”, claiming that the Mayor “had to think fast”, and that the mainstream media was “working hard to sell it”.

This is, as has already been established, an exquisite stream of bullshit, but Trump is trying it on again, because… he’s trying to cover up the fact that he fucked up? Because he’s President and thinks he can do whatever he wants?

Or perhaps he is, as we said, a windsock full of farts, and this is the kind of petty nonsense a windsock full of farts might resort to.
