David Cameron accused of turning house into ‘Tacky Benidorm resort’ by neighbour

They say the life of a retired politician lacks dignity, when you're forced once again to mingle with your subjects and respect the laws that you once created, it can be a humbling experience. You leave office at your least popular, hounded out by a populace eager to see the back of you, to slink away from the limelight while Danny Dyer goes on national TV and makes allusions to the time you were accused of dicking a pig. In short, it's not great out there for our former PMs. And David Cameron has suffered yet another indignity after a neighbour registered an official complaint against his planning permission application to build a swimming pool in his West Oxfordshire home. The Camerons sought permission from West Oxfordshire council to build the 14x4m pool with 8 underwater lights in August. According to council records, the modest application has suffered a setback in the form of a neighbour, who complained about it on the grounds that it was 'out of keeping with the local area'. Swimming pools are totally out of keeping with the local area. This plan will cause noise from machinery to heat and filter the pool, light pollution, and most importantly, noise pollution from rowdy pool parties going on into the night. Why can't people just enjoy the character of charm of the Cotswolds without trying to turn their gardens into some kind of tacky Benidorm resort?" Snide comments about the Camerons' rowdiness aside, it's not clear at this time whether the concerned neighbour will be able to stop the relatively straight forward planning application, but an anxious nation hold its breath.
