David Beckham is reportedly set to finally receive a knighthood after years of speculation and near misses.

The the famous former football and British icon has long been tipped to receive the honour, with the whole thing becoming a bit of a running joke.

With services to football, on both club and national level, as well as to British culture, no one seems more like a more obvious pick than old 'Golden Balls' himself.

Now, according to reports from The Telegraph, The Sun and many other national outlets, Becks is set to become, Sir David Beckham.

Beckham has been nominated before, notably in 2011 for helping the UK secure the 2012 Olympics, however, he was caught up in a tax avoidance scheme with other celebrities, leading to the honour being rejected by inland revenue.

After finally being cleared by tax authorities in 2021, the door was reopened, and The Sun claims he only narrowly missed out to Gareth Southgate in December 2024's New Years Honours List.

Beckham was given an OBE in 2003 for services to football.
