Country singer Jake Flint, 37, dies in his sleep just hours after his wedding

'People aren’t meant to feel this much pain', his wife wrote on Facebook

Oklahoma country music singer Jake Flint died suddenly at age 37 after his wedding on Saturday, his publicist has confirmed. Flint died in his sleep shortly after he exchanged vows with Brenda Flint. The cause of death has not been determined. “We should be going through wedding photos but instead I have to pick out clothes to bury my husband in,” his wife wrote Tuesday on Facebook. “People aren’t meant to feel this much pain. My heart is gone and I just really need him to come back. I can’t take much more. I need him here.” On Sunday, she’d shared a video from their wedding alongside the heartbreaking caption: “I don’t understand.” According to publicist Clif Doyal, Jake Flint was an ambassador for Oklahoma Red Dirt music and a beloved member of the country music community. “He was a prolific songwriter, recording artist, and in-demand live performer throughout the Midwest and Southwestern US,” Doyal told ET in a statement. “As a testament to his kindness and humanity, he was also a tireless supporter of his fellow artists, always willing to lend a hand to help anyone who needed it.” “With his infectious smile and disarming sense of humor, he was loved by many, and I believe that, along with his music, will be his lasting legacy,” he added. Flint released his debut album, “I’m Not Okay,” in 2016, followed by “Live and Not OK at Cain’s Ballroom” in 2018, “Jake Flint” in 2020 and last year’s “Live and Socially Distanced at Mercury Lounge.” His best-known singles included “Cowtown,” “Long Road Back Home” and “What’s Your Name.” In 2019, he was named Breakout Artist of the Year at the We Are Tulsa Music Awards.

Doyal confirmed the news of the singer's death to The Oklahoman, saying:

"He was not only a client, he was a dear friend and just a super nice guy. As you can see from the outpouring on social media, he was loved by everybody. I think a lot of it was just that he was a people person, and he had an amazing sense of humor. He made everybody laugh, and he made everybody feel welcome."
